• Issue: When the computer resumes from Stand-by/Sleep mode, there may be no communication with any serial devices. This is due to a problem with the Rocket Port driver.
    Resolution1: Ensure you are using the latest driver for your OS and device.

    Resolution2: If the problem still occurs, disable all power-saving settings in Windows and restart the computer.
  • Issue: You receive database errors when starting the Forté software. This could be due to corrupt databases or insufficient security permissions.
    Resolution1: With the Forté software shutdown, execute C:\ForteSystem\Utilities\DBMaint.exe
    Resolution2: Verify the Windows user has read/write permissions for C:\ForteSystem
  • Issue:After replacing the HDD or Rocketport, there is no communication with serial devices. This is typically due to incorrect configuration of the Rocket Port.
    Resolution1: Set the starting comport to 3 within the Rocket Port configuration. (Accessed from the Device Manager in Windows XP/2000 and from the Network Configuration in Windows NT).
    Resolution2: Uninstall Rocket Port drivers, shutdown the PC, re-seat the card, turn PC on, and re-install the drivers.
  • Issue: When the AC5 ribbon cable is not connected to the PB24 board or there is no power supplied to the PB24 board, some inputs are triggered when the Forté software is started. This is because the state of the inputs is unpredictable when there is no power.
    Resolution: Apply 5 Volts DC to the PB24 board or replace the ribbon cable.
